Seven new COVID-19 cases have been reported today on the Big Island, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.
Three people are hospitalized and the number of COVID-related deaths on the island remain at 51.
“We need to stay healthy with exercise, fresh air, sunlight, cleanliness, and continue to follow the preventive policies of face coverings, distancing, and limiting gatherings of no more than ten people,” Civil Defense said in a message today. “We must practice the preventive measures especially during New Year’s celebrations to protect our family, friends, and community. Please accept this kuleana to follow the preventive measures so we might continue in the New Year as the safest place in the Country.”
Statewide, 108 new cases were reported today, bringing the total number of cases in the state since the start of the pandemic of 21,209.
COVID-19 testing is available this today, from 2-6 p.m. at Konawaena High School and 3-6 p.m. at the Afook-Chinen Auditorium in Hilo.
